Just after midnight on 1 November, Ringhals 2 was phased back into the Swedish power network after this year’s outage.
This means all four reactors at Ringhals are now ready to generate electricity for the winter.
A pleasing result of the outage was that the extended reactor vessel test showed that the reactor vessel at Ringhals 2 is in good condition. No defects were found corresponding to those discovered in the Belgian reactor, Doel 3, earlier this year.
After this year’s outage, Ringhals 2 will operate at a maximum power of 94 per cent. A return to 100 per cent requires measures on the auxiliary feedwater pumps, which can be done next year at the earliest.
