Suspected explosive found during vehicle control at Ringhals

On Wednesday afternoon 20 June, a suspected explosive was discovered in a truck on its way into the premises of the nuclear power plant Ringhals.

It was in the course of Ringhals' standard procedures for cargo and vehicle scanning when staff found the suspected substance.
In the evening, material samples were sent to the State Forensic Laboratory for further analysis.The police are at the site, and the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority is informed.

Ringhals has taken the necessary steps and follows the procedures laid down for this type ofevent.All vehicles, cargo and people entering the Ringhals premises pass through an extensive inspection including explosives.

The discovered object could not have induced a serious damage at Ringhals.
